I love the symbolism of crows for what I know is a deep and difficult thing. One of your followers on twitter posted something that I just loved (and you did as well) :

"As a totem animal, crows remind us to speak our highest spiritual truths. Most excellent, for an artist!"

So, yes. Perfect title. Now all we have to do is wait for the release!

That waiting thing? I'll never get used to it. Ever. Apparently, I will continue to be reminded of the lessons of patience.

Thank you for the set list. xo

As usual, I had a million things written down but then "The Calling of the Crows" just popped into my head as I heard them outside yesterday afternoon. I felt strongly about it right away. First of all, I just enjoy it aesthetically and it "feels like" how the album sounds to me. Secondly, I like the fact that it can be taken more than one way. The actual calling of the crows to warn, mourn and communicate with one another (and of course the symbolism of crows and death in Western culture is where my personal stuff comes in). OR the calling of the crows could be taken in a spiritual way - as in "higher calling." Their role in our world and our myths and symbols. Of course I can take it even further into my own personal feelings and combine both. The crows in my yard have been an immense comfort to me as I listen to them each day. Taking actual crows out of it, the title can be about knowing that Henry was going to leave this mortal coil. The crow funerals came into my symbolism a lot as well, as in reality this record is more about my process of grieving and trying to make sense of things after the fact than anything else.

Anyway - I am sure you know all this. Just jotting it down. I feel it works on many important levels to encapsulate the story of this one.

Please send it my way when you can. We'd love to get it in rotation on WJCU!

I will try to be patient:) There was a raven on the grass outside my window at work today. Every time I see one I wonder if a shapeshifter has come to call (or steal the sun).
